Welcome to

The Poynton SpineCare Institute

The Poynton SpineCare Institute provides comprehensive multidisciplinary care for spinal disorders.

The Institutes’ philosophy of comprehensive care is based on careful assessment followed by individualised treatment plans for each patient. Surgery is only a small part of modern spine care. The majority of patients with spinal pain do not need surgical intervention.

The Institutes’ belief is one of shared decision making which is an approach where clinicians, multidisciplinary team and patients share the best available evidence when faced with the task of making decisions and where patients are supported to consider options to achieve informed preferences.

Spinal Surgery

Spinal Surgery

The Institute aims to provide a multidisciplinary approach to both non-operative and operative spinal care. Surgical intervention is appropriate in severe cases and cases where non-operative interventions have failed. Spinal surgery has advanced considerably over the years and can be performed safely with good outcome in the majority of cases. Surgeons at The Poynton SpineCare Institute are fellowship trained which means that they have trained specifically in spinal surgery and can provide a wide spectrum of surgical solutions.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy

At The Poynton SpineCare Institute our team of Physiotherapists can treat a diverse range of spinal pathologies ranging from acute to chronic neck, and low back pain with or without radicular symptoms, occupational, sports, degenerative and arthritic spinal complaints. We will also guide you through your rehabilitation and recovery post spinal surgery and offer pre-op education, advice and prehab in the Institute. We are happy to announce the introduction of an Acute Spinal Triage Service for acute spinal pain. Patients can access this through their referring GP, Physiotherapist, Consultant or Pain Specialist Consultant.

Spinal Assessment

Our Spinal Assessment identifies those patients with serious spinal pathology and neurological deficit so that further medical, radiological and/or surgical intervention can be commenced without delay appropriately and efficiently. Also it can identify patients with simple back or neck pain, or nerve root pain that may be best managed through starting a comprehensive course of Physiotherapy under our team of experienced Specialist Physiotherapists. The spinal evaluation service is lead by a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapy team with previous knowledge and specific training in Orthopaedic and Spinal triage.
